ISS takes win in turbulent Green Buildings Regatta 2022

Twenty-two teams braved fierce winds to compete for the win at the 17th Green Buildings Regatta. ISS Facility Services Nederland eventually took the win, followed by PHI Factory / The 2B Collective in second place and FMN in third.

Almost 300 participants, with 22 boats in all, registered to compete for the coveted trophy of the Green Buildings Regatta at Marina Muiderzand. The day began with a warm welcome from Bram Adema and Marit Bouwmeester, in which Bram announced that CFP Green Buildings will also be supporting Marit on her way to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

The partnership was cemented as Marit received the Frisian flag, and then spoke encouragingly to the participants: “There is a lot of wind today and it should stay reasonably dry. They are expecting force 5 gusts, so it certainly won’t be boring. It giet oan!” (“It’s on!” in Frisian)

Practice makes perfect

In the morning, the teams had the opportunity to hone their technique during a practice race. They also practised the start, and six boats learned they needed to sharpen up their starting techniques because they crossed the starting line early. “But as the saying goes: If you never start early, you’ll never win!” said the race director.

ISS Facility Services Netherlands took the win

This year, the starting signal was fired by Maaike Veeningen, on behalf of the municipality of Almere, which kicked off the sailing race in rough weather. The teams braved strong gusts of wind, rain and threatening thunder, but that did not dampen their enthusiasm. ISS Facility Services Nederland ultimately emerged victorious with its boat The Fox.

PHI Factory / The 2B Collective finished in second place with Onix. Third place was won by FMN with its boat Leef.
